DEVILDRIVER Guitarist Forced To Sit Out South American Tour
August 8, 2011California metallers DEVILDRIVER have released the following statement:
"[Guitarist] Mike Spreitzer was hospitalized this afternoon [after suffering a seizure]. He has now been released and is okay, but, unfortunately, he will not be joining the band on their South American tour as doctors have ordered him not to. The tour is still continuing [with Jeff Kendrick as the sole guitarist]."
DEVILDRIVER's six-date tour of South America and Mexico will kick off on Wednesday, August 10 at Teatro Flores in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
DEVILDRIVER bassist Aaron "Bubble" Patrick (ex-BURY YOUR DEAD) suffered a back injury last month but was able to recover in time to perform with the rest of the band at the Heavy T.O. and Heavy MTL festivals in Toronto, Ontario and Montreal, Quebec, Canada, respectively.
Bubble joined DEVILDRIVER as the replacement for Jonathan Miller, who quit DEVILDRIVER in March, calling it "the most difficult decision of my life" but "something that I needed to do for myself."
"Beast", the fifth album from DEVILDRIVER, sold a little over 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 42 on The Billboard 200 chart.
